Simon Pegg Pours Cold Water On Star Trek Gossip

Simon Pegg has put the dampers on gossip about the forthcoming Star Trek movie sequel.
The British comic actor, who played Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott in the 2009 're-boot' of the vintage sci-fi franchise, has insisted that the villain of the new film will NOT be Klingon warlord Khan.

It had been reported that Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing Khan - but Pegg insisted the Sherlock star would be a different character.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "It's not Khan. That's a myth. Everyone's saying it is, but it's not. I think people just want to have a scoop. It annoys me - it's beyond the point to just ferret around for spoilers all the time to try to be the first to break them.

"It just spoils the film. It masquerades as interest in the movie but really it's just nosiness and impatience. You just want to say, 'Oh f**k off! Wait for the film!'"

And showbiz website Digital Spy supported him, by re-quoting a movie insider from 2010 saying Khan would not feature in the sequel.

The source said: "It's definitely a character that will make fans of (the original series) excited.

"Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it's one of those that I named."

First pictures from Jimi Hendix biopic, All Is By My Side

Currently shooting in Ireland, John Ridley's All Is By My Side chronicles the early days of rock legend Jimi Hendrix, up to the release of his first album Are You Experienced. The official synopsis for the film reads like this:

In “All Is By My Side,” there’s rock music. Then there's Jimi Hendrix. “All Is By My Side” captures the energy, the charisma, the mind-boggling talent of a legend whose musical influence still resonates around the world today. Based on actual interviews and archival materials, “All Is By My Side” brings authenticity and poignantly reveals a Jimi Hendrix behind the legend. At its heart a love story, “All Is By My Side” is about a man growing up, falling in love and becoming Jimi.

Andrew Benjamin (better known as Andre 3000 from hip hop band OutKast) plays the man himself, and pictures from the set certainly show he has got the look down. We also get to see Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Linda Keith, former girlfriend of The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, and the women who discovered Hendrix.

No release date has been given as of yet.

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 update in Empire Magazine

Another day, another taster of what you're in for in the gussied-up new issue of Empire. This time we have a few snippets from the new Slate section, which will be bringing you all the latest movie news and discussion monthly. First up, we talked to Kevin Feige to find out what The Avengers will be up to next, and he dropped a few hints on Iron Man 3 and Thor 2.

Of Iron Man 3, among other things, Feige notes that, "We don't equate bigger with better. It's Tony's most personal journey since he was trapped in a cave in the first half of the first movie, but it'll also have the largest spectacle of any of the Iron Man movies."

And on Thor 2 he adds, "We're going to see the other side of Asgard. It's not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie Portman, and Thor returning with Jane Foster."

Men In Black III Weekend Update

Box office update: 'Men In Black 3' tops weekend with $55 million; 'Avengers' passes $500 million

Sony’s $230 million alien-zapping sequel Men In Black 3 topped the box office over the three-day weekend frame with an estimated $55 million.

Although the Will Smith action-comedy didn’t exactly trip out of the gate, Men In Black 3′s start is troubling considering its gigantic budget and supposed built-in audience. Fortunately, as is so often the case these days, international results proved stronger. Sony says the film has taken in $132 million overseas in its initial week of release.

Marvel’s The Avengers held strong in second place with $37 million — a 34 percent drop from last weekend. The superhero ensemble crossed the $500 million mark on Saturday,

Ironman 3 update

Actor James Badge Dale has signed on as Eric Savin, a villain in the Shane black directed Iron Man 3. What's interesting is that Savin, better known as cyborg Coldblood, has never appeared in the Iron Man comics. He will share villain duties with Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley. Considering the movie is based on the storyline 'Extremis', which concerns a nano bot virus that essentially upgrades the human body and imbues those infected with super powers, and Savin's history as a cyborg, I wouldn't be surprised if the character is infected with the virus, setting him up as physical threat for the hero.

Also another new casting for the movie is Rebecca Hall (The Town), who replaces the previously announced Jessica Chastain as a scientist who is described as a match for Tony Stark in the intelligent stakes. Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle reprise their roles for the sequel, which will begin shooting this month.

Shut up and Drive Rihanna set for new movie

Shut up and drive! Rihanna set to star in Fast And The Furious 6 as a sultry villain

Rihanna is truly showing no signs of slowing down any time fast.

Today it has been revealed that she has been cast to play a villainous role in the upcoming blockbuster The Fast and the Furious 6.

The You Da One singer will star in the movie alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

'Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life.'

The 24-year-old singer recently made her leap to the big screen playing a weapons officer named Raikes in the mega-movie Battleship.

The source continued, 'It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.'

The sixth installment of the speed racing franchise is set for release in May 2013 but production on the film is said to begin next month.

This time the movie will be set over on this side of the waters which Rihanna will need to get her Oyster card application form in to Transport for London.

According to the newspaper Rihanna will be filming scenes on a racetrack in Southend as London will be on lock down due the Olympics.

Last year, Vin Diesel revealed in an interview that the sixth part of the film would be split in two, meaning Rihanna could also star in the seventh film.

Diesel, 44, explained, 'With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space.'

He continued, 'We have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages, the studio said, "You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!"
