Simon Pegg Pours Cold Water On Star Trek Gossip

Simon Pegg has put the dampers on gossip about the forthcoming Star Trek movie sequel.
The British comic actor, who played Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott in the 2009 're-boot' of the vintage sci-fi franchise, has insisted that the villain of the new film will NOT be Klingon warlord Khan.

It had been reported that Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing Khan - but Pegg insisted the Sherlock star would be a different character.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "It's not Khan. That's a myth. Everyone's saying it is, but it's not. I think people just want to have a scoop. It annoys me - it's beyond the point to just ferret around for spoilers all the time to try to be the first to break them.

"It just spoils the film. It masquerades as interest in the movie but really it's just nosiness and impatience. You just want to say, 'Oh f**k off! Wait for the film!'"

And showbiz website Digital Spy supported him, by re-quoting a movie insider from 2010 saying Khan would not feature in the sequel.

The source said: "It's definitely a character that will make fans of (the original series) excited.

"Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it's one of those that I named."
